The Seychelles Prison Service has confirmed that during the late afternoon of Saturday September 5, 2020, custodial staff conducting checks in inmate cell blocks recovered suspected hashish from the shoe of one inmate.

This occurred within the male block at the Seychelles Prison Service, Montagne Posée.

The suspected drugs with a weight of approximately 92 grammes, was later handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Bureau (ANB) of the Seychelles Police for analysis and onward investigation.

The recovered item was confirmed to be hashish.

The drugs were found wrapped within a latex glove and shoved into a shoe.

The incident is under investigation.
